Koli dance is the heart song of Mumbai's original inhabitantsβthe Koli community.
For over 500 years, this exuberant folk form has celebrated the catch, the monsoon,
and the spirit of the Arabian Sea. Dancers move with wooden oars (vaghya), form human nets,
and wear vibrant checkered saris that mirror fishing sails.
Each performance is an invocation to the sea gods, a thanksgiving for bountiful harvests.
Our artists are direct descendants from Worli, Versova, and Vasai Koliwadas,
preserving authentic choreography while bringing contemporary energy.
